EU Brokers Iran Nuclear Deal (2 April 2015) : “Good news” tweeted EU High Representative Federica Mogherini at the end of marathon talks in Lausanne, Switzerland. Iran, EU, China, Russia, and the US “reached solutions on key parameters” that would resolve the major disputes of Iran’s nuclear program. EU and US imposed financial and economic sanctions would be lifted on a quid-pro-quo basis. Iran would only keep the civilian nuclear facility in Natanz and reduce the centrifuges from 19,000 to about 6,100 under oversight from the IAEA. The text of the technical agreement will be finalized by June 30.
