Anti Austerity Syriza Party Wins Greek Elections

The left wing Syriza party won the Greek elections with 36.3% of the vote. Party leader Alexis Tsipras was sworn in as Prime Minister and vowed to end Greeceā€™s austerity programs. Syriza now controls 162 out of 300 seats in the Greek Parliament, after forming a coalition with anti-EU Independent Greeks party (4.7%). Chancellor Angela Merkel urged the new leaders to continue the previously agreed reforms.
