EU Space Agency Lands Probe on Comet

In a historical feat, spacecraft Philae landed on the surface of Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko at about 1605 GMT. Cheering scientists at the European Space Operations Center in Darmstadt, Germany, confirmed the touchdown. Philae’s experiments will measure density, gas, temperature, the magnetic field, and conduct other tests. The spacecraft was built by the German Aerospace Research Institute DLR.
