EU Summit Wrap-Up

Greece, Russia, and Energy Union dominated the discussions of the EU leaders in Brussels. Greek PM Alexis Tsipras pledged to present a “comprehensive” set of economic reforms before money could be disbursed to his country to prevent it from insolvency. Russia sanctions will be maintained until the end of the year; a decision to further extend them will be taken at subsequent summits, pending the implementation of the Minsk agreements. In regards to the Energy Union, EU leaders agreed to implement full transparency of external gas purchases and accelerate construction of infrastructure projects including interconnections for electricity and gas.
