American and European negotiators have entered the fifth round of talks for the T-TIP pact in Arlington, Virginia. The original hope to complete the trade negotiations this winter has disappeared. Opposition to the pact is forming on both sides of the Atlantic. More than 250 T-TIP protesters were arrested on May 15 in Brussels, Belgium. Accusing the negotiators of withholding crucial information, the critics believe the trade agreement will abolish high European food safety and environmental protection standards.
